Health Insurance as a Requirement for Turkish Residence Permit

As per immigration laws in Turkey, it is mandatory that all students have valid insurance that covers the total duration of their studies in Turkey. It is entirely students’ obligation to fulfil this requirement and we strongly recommend that students are insured from the moment their travel to Turkey begins. This is to ensure that exchange students have medical coverage from the very first day of their arrival to Turkey.

Please confirm with your health insurance company in your home country the following:

1)    Your coverage is valid and can be used in Turkey.

2)    English translation of the original Insurance Plan (if issued in another language)

3)    Meets the minimum coverage requirement (same or higher coverage)

4)    You have a list of hospitals in Istanbul where you can use your insurance.
